C-reactive protein (CRP)

A blood marker of inflammation; the high-sensitivity version (hs-CRP) tracks low-grade inflammation.

C-reactive protein is made by the liver and rises when there's inflammation in the body. The high-sensitivity test (hs-CRP) is sensitive enough to pick up the low-grade, chronic inflammation that sits under many autoimmune and metabolic conditions — which is why it's a useful marker to track when a nutrition change is meant to lower inflammation.
