Levothyroxine
The standard synthetic thyroid-hormone replacement medication.
Levothyroxine is the standard synthetic version of the thyroid hormone T4, prescribed to replace what an underactive thyroid can't make. Nutrition works alongside it, never instead of it. Its absorption is reduced by food, coffee, calcium and iron, so it's taken on an empty stomach with those spaced several hours apart. Never change or stop it without your doctor.
