TPO antibodies (anti-thyroid peroxidase) are immune proteins that target an enzyme the thyroid uses to make hormone. Raised levels in a blood test are the hallmark marker of Hashimoto's thyroiditis — confirming the immune system, not the gland itself, is the root of the problem. Tracking them over time can show whether an anti-inflammatory approach is calming the attack.
