Flare vs remission

The active-symptom phase versus the settled phase of a chronic condition — each needs different eating.

In chronic conditions like IBD, a flare is an active period of inflammation and symptoms; remission is a settled period with few or none. They call for different diets — gentle and low-fibre during a flare, diverse and fibre-rich in remission.
