FODMAPs

Fermentable carbs (in wheat, onion, garlic, milk, some fruit) that can trigger IBS symptoms.

FODMAPs — Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols — are short-chain carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed in the small intestine. They draw in water and ferment into gas, which in a sensitive gut can trigger bloating, cramping and altered bowel habits. Found in wheat, onion, garlic, milk, legumes and certain fruits.
