Nightshades

A plant family — tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, aubergine — removed during the elimination phase of AIP.

Nightshades are a family of plants that includes tomatoes, peppers (bell and chilli), potatoes and aubergine. They contain alkaloids that, in sensitive people, may aggravate the gut and joints. They're removed during the elimination phase of the autoimmune protocol and reintroduced later — many people tolerate them fine and can add them back.
