Phytoestrogens
Plant compounds (in soy, flax and legumes) that weakly mimic estrogen in the body.
Phytoestrogens are naturally occurring plant compounds — richest in soy, flaxseed and legumes — that bind weakly to estrogen receptors. For most people they're safe as food and may gently ease some menopausal symptoms; the evidence is mixed, and they're far weaker than the body's own estrogen.
