Soluble fibre
Gel-forming fibre (oats, psyllium, chia) that's gentle on the gut and steadies blood sugar.
Soluble fibre dissolves in water to form a gel — found in oats, psyllium, chia, apples and citrus. It slows digestion, feeds gut bacteria, helps both constipation and diarrhoea, and blunts the blood-sugar rise after meals. It's generally far better tolerated in IBS than coarse insoluble fibre.
